About the Island
Prince of Wales Island in the Alexander Archipelago in the Southeast Alaska panhandle and is the 4th largest island in the United States (after Hawaii, Kodiak and Puerto Rico). At a 135 miles long and over 2,000 square miles, you will find over 1,000 miles of paved and gravel roads as well as 990 miles of coastline. This kind of area makes for plenty of opportunity to get outside and see what the island has to offer. Your first adventure will be getting to the island and this section is designed to prepare you for a visit.

You can also take the ferry from Ketchikan to Hollis (Prince of Wales Island) via the Inter-Island Ferry Authority. This relaxing three hour trip will prepare you for the spectacular beauty you'll be experiencing once you arrive. The ferry leaves Ketchikan at 3:30 and arrives in Hollis at 6:30 pm daily.
